i like to browse crafty blogs from time to time and bumped into this post.

i am in love with the idea. i think i would want to use brighter colors, (deep pink, orange, yellows, browns) assuming we go that way for the wedding. i’m not a fan of pastels. it feels easter-sunday-ish. or something.

maybe not spell something as cliche as “love”. perhaps spell out “the champs”? ;) just a thought.

maybe even wrap some other items in twine/yarn as well to dress them up a bit. mason jars, wine bottles, metal buckets with wedding favors…

i am determined to make this a really cute, country, low-stress, low-budget wedding. i don’t want anything over the top. i know brett feels the same way. i just want it to be… fun. even the planning. i don’t want to hate the whole process.

i am seeing a solid trend in my wedding inspiration ideas.

We set a date today!!!

I was looking at my calendar while I was at work, and started thinking about it.

We knew we wanted next fall. Average temperature in mid NC in late September is ~70°, and pretty dry.

So for whatever reason, I looked at September 22. It’s a Saturday.

So I said it to myself in my head.

Saturday, September Twenty-Second, Twenty Twelve.

You can’t tell me that it doesn’t have a sweet ring to it. PER-FECT.

I told Brett that I feel like a magician when I say it.

He agrees on the date, as do other family members via e-mail (I explained the magical aspect to them, as well, though I don’t think they’re quite as pumped over it).

So, that settles it, I guess. Now comes all the hard stuff.

We have done no wedding planning. None. Nada. Zilch.

We haven’t even set a date.

I’m kind of hoping that at some point, something will happen, someone will be like OH NO YOUR WEDDING IS IN A MONTH, and they will plan it all for us.

And then when I think about that, I realize that we will probably hate the wedding that someone else creates for us.

Which means we have to do all the planning.

I’m not good at planning, or waiting, or doing anything that requires patience, actually. This is going to be tough.

I finally got an idea in my head and ran with it. FINALLY. And I’m so glad this site turned out the way it did. I took a ton of images from theknot.com (they have a ginormous database with photos of wedding ideas) and tried to match the feel of them all on here. I think I was successful.

And better yet, Brett likes it, too.

So I guess this is where I’ll/we’ll be sticking wedding ideas until the time comes. We still haven’t set a date. The date on the countdown on the other pages is a random fall date, so it’s not really 400-whatever days from now. I mean, it could be, but that date isn’t anything we picked. We just know it’ll be next fall.

Once we get that figured out, and the save-the-dates have gone out, we’ll send out invitations. The invitations will have a random code on them. You’ll come back to this site, enter your code, and submit your RSVP (along with your guest and child info, and meal choice). All the info from your RSVP will get saved in a Google doc shared between me and Brett.

I am having way too much fun with this.
